Late 16th-century music from the courts of northern Italy, written expressly for special groups of women singers, the concerto delle donne. These trios of women were all the rage, with virtuosic music written expressly for them, some of the first women professional musicians. Music by Luzzaschi, Marenzio, Francesca Caccini, Monteverdi, and more.

There will be a pre-concert talk at 6:45 pm.

Presenting the Philadelphia-based chamber ensemble Night Music, directed by Heather Miller Lardin (NYS Baroque's former Artistic Director) and Steven Zohn, in a special program of music of the high baroque, including Telemann's rollicking Don Quixote suite, a Quantz flute concerto, and Bach's beloved Triple Concerto for flute, violin, and harpsichord.
