820 E. Genesee St.,

Foolproof is a brassy, toe-tapping musical comedy that finds close-knit sisters Jo, Mary, and Curly in the Brooklyn movie theater where they work, surviving the Great Depression on little more than popcorn and hope. Upon learning the beloved theater is about to close, they hatch a screwball scheme to buy it. In a Three Stooges meets I Love Lucy-esque escapade, their sisterhood is tested as they weigh the difference between foolhardy decisions and risks worth taking to achieve their dreams. Foolproof was previously developed at Goodspeed's Festival of New Musicals 2026 and had a 29-hour reading at the Lincoln Center Library in 2025. This staged reading of Foolproof is presented as part of the Syracuse University Department of Drama's New Works/New Voices (NW/NV) initiative. Book by Sonya Hayden and Megan Loughran, music by Sonya Hayden, lyrics by Megan Loughran. Directed by Eleanor Holdridge, with music direction by Jacob Kerzner.
